The 2026 Cathedral Pinot Noir is a particularly strong release, bringing together fruit from multiple Gippsland sites. This vintage leans towards the darker, more savoury side of Pinot, with black cherry, plum and pomegranate alongside flashes of strawberry and plenty of spice.
There’s good depth here without heaviness. Fine tannins give the wine shape, while fresh acidity keeps everything bright and easy on the palate. It has enough complexity to reward a bit of attention, but remains incredibly approachable.
Unrefined and unfiltered, as you’d expect from Downie. A great value Gippsland Pinot that comfortably bridges the gap between light, easy drinking reds and more structured, serious Pinot Noir.
