Tschida Laissez-Faire 2023

The 2023 “Laissez-Faire” Riesling is a beautifully electric balance of freshness, minerality and finesse. Pale yellow with green-silver highlights, its bouquet opens with delicate orange blossom, white stone fruit and a whisper of wood, all grounded by stony, mineral tones and floral undertones. On the palate it is taut and precise: zesty lime, yellow apple and saline edges interplay with a firm acidity and subtle tropical hints. The finish is long and lingering, with lime zest and white apple echoing, and an energetic tension that both captivates and promises rewarding age.

Christian Tschida is a fourth-generation winemaker from Illmitz in Austria’s Burgenland, tending around 14 hectares of vines on gravel, schist and limestone soils. He farms organically with biodynamic influence, focusing on biodiversity and soil vitality. In the cellar, Christian works with a light hand: wild ferments, gentle pressing, large neutral oak, and no fining or filtering. Minimal sulphur is used, allowing the wines to show purity, texture and a vivid sense of place. His philosophy is to let nature lead — creating wines of elegance, complexity and authenticity.
