Tasting Notes:

Juicy mulberry and black cherry lead, layered with earthy undertones, a touch of liquorice and gentle spice. The palate is plush with dark berry fruit, flowing into soft, silky tannins and a smooth, balanced finish.

Vineyard Notes:

Fruit is sourced from both Pipers Brook and Strathlynn in the Tamar Valley, combining maritime-influenced sites near Bass Strait with the warmer, more sheltered slopes of the West Tamar. Volcanic Ferrosol soils at Pipers Brook and clay-rich Vertosols in the Tamar provide excellent water retention, supporting steady vine growth. Old vines (around 30 years) and careful clonal selection deliver low yields and concentrated fruit, while VSP trellising and canopy management ensure even ripening and fine tannin development.

Winemaker Notes:

Harvested in the cool of early morning, the fruit was mostly destemmed with a small portion of whole bunch retained for added complexity. A short cold soak preceded fermentation, which began naturally before finishing with cultured yeast in stainless steel. Fermented warm to build structure, the wine was gently pressed and completed malolactic fermentation before being bottled under screw cap to preserve its aromatic purity and vibrant fruit profile.
