This 2023 Grampians Shiraz (100%) comes from a vintage shaped by one of Victoria’s wettest springs, though the Great Divide’s protection ensured cooler conditions and good drainage. Early hail and unsettled weather reduced yields, ultimately improving quality by producing more open bunches. The wine shows a medium-to-deep violet hue with aromas of red and black berries, cedar, cinnamon, and pine. On the palate, powdery tannins and gentle acidity frame delicate red florals, berries, liquorice, and brooding spice. Crafted from 100% whole berry ferments in open-top fermenters, it spent 7–10 days on skins with a mix of plunging and pump-overs, then matured for 14 months in French barriques (25% new). Balanced at 13.5% ABV with a pH of 3.68, it’s a refined, expressive Shiraz from a memorable vintage.
