A blend of Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt from gravelly, limestone-rich soils in Burgenland, she’s bright-eyed and effortlessly charming, yet full of quiet depth. Pressed directly to oak barrels and aged on lees for eight months, this isn’t your average pink drink. Winifred is natural, biodynamic, and entirely free of sulphites, filtration, or fuss.

The 2023 vintage bursts with tart raspberry, juicy strawberry, and whispers of dark fruit, all wrapped in a swirl of floral perfume. Her texture is silky yet fresh, with just enough spice to keep you guessing. Behind the scenes is Gut Oggau, a groundbreaking 14-hectare biodynamic estate founded in 2007 by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck on the quiet shores of Lake Neusiedl. The couple lovingly restored a long-abandoned 17th-century winery, and with it, a forgotten patchwork of vines. Thanks to 20 years of chemical-free neglect, the land was a clean slate perfect for their Demeter-certified biodynamic approach, focused on minimal intervention and maximum character.

Every wine in the Gut Oggau lineup is imagined as part of a fictional, multi-generational “family,” each with its own personality. Winifred? She’s the free spirit. The barefoot dancer. The spontaneous text at 11pm saying, “rosé?” With her wild heart and natural soul, she’s impossible not to love.
