Theodora is a charismatic member of the Gut Oggau family, Theodora is a spirited, slightly spritzy white blend of Grüner Veltliner and Welschriesling from 35-year-old vines. She opens with a hazy, farmhouse charm, whiffs of kombucha, yeast and a subtle barnyard funk before revealing delicate aromas of white florals, citrus pith, and blossom. On the palate, vibrant acidity dances with notes of citrus and stone fruit, giving the wine both structure and lift. Partially fermented on the skins and aged in various wooden containers of 500L, 1000L and 1500L and then matured on the yeast for 9 months.
Made by Eduard Tscheppe and Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck at their 13-hectare biodynamic estate in Burgenland, Theodora reflects their deep respect for the land and the generations of knowledge behind it. Since restoring a 17th-century winery abandoned for decades, the couple has cultivated a natural vine balance across dozens of tiny vineyards near Lake Neusiedl. Each site is vinified with care—some bottled solo, others like Theodora, blended into expressive, playful characters.
Like Gut Oggau’s other wines, Theodora doesn’t just speak of terroir—she tells a story. One that’s as much about legacy and meticulous craftsmanship as it is about bright, unfiltered joy.
