Think you know Dolcetto? This one takes a different route.
Grown by the Corsini family in Victoria’s King Valley, this Italian variety has been transformed by Janelle De Gabriele and Rhen Dodd into a bright, lightly sparkling Frizzante. Think somewhere between a delicate sparkling rosé and pét-nat – fresh, lively and seriously easy to drink.
Despite the name Dolcetto – Italian for “little sweet one” – the wine itself isn’t sweet. The name refers to the small, naturally sweet grapes traditionally grown in Piedmont.
There’s plenty of fun here, but also a quiet elegance that keeps it from being simply a party wine. Perfect to open over dinner, pass around the table and see where the night goes.
