Nestled on the sun-drenched south to south-east slopes of the famed Liste cru in the village of Barolo, this wine is made from 100 % Nebbiolo grown in calcareous-and-clay-marl soils rich in sedimentary clay—terrain formed some 11 to 13 million years ago through erosion of the overlying land. Here the vines are trained under the Archetto variation of the Guyot system with about 4 000 plants per hectare, and hand-harvested in October to capture the full integrity of the fruit. Fermentation begins spontaneously in concrete, followed by an extended submerged-cap maceration and more than four years of ageing in large Slavonian oak, resulting in a wine of both power and finesse.

Over recent vintages the producer has embraced organic practices, affirming their commitment to the health of the land, the vines, and ultimately the wine in the glass. The result is a Barolo that marries tradition and purity—with vibrant ruby-garnet colour, aromas of fresh red fruits, rose petals and spice, and a palate marked by lively acidity, silky tannins and an elegant, persistent finish. Made to evolve beautifully with time, this is a wine for the table, for memorable meals and for slow moments of discovery—be it a braised game dish in Piedmont, a hearty goulash in Eastern Europe, or grilled beef in Tokyo’s yakiniku style.
